MMI Watches is proud to introduce another collaboration with AWAGAMI FACTORY JAPAN: the Four Seasons (四季) collection. This series features four distinct dial colors, each representing one of the seasons:- Spring (春), Summer (夏), Autumn (秋), and Winter (冬).
AWAGAMI FACTORY Unryu Swirling Fibers Washi is a traditional Japanese handmade paper, celebrated for its delicate yet striking texture. The name Unryu (雲龍), meaning (cloud dragon), reflects the paper's signature swirling fibers, reminiscent of drifting clouds or flowings dragon forms. Made from Kozo + Alpha Pulp. sometimes blended with other fibers, Unryu Washi is lightweight, durable, and semi-transparent. It has long been cherished in art, crafts, stationery, lampshades, and decorative application for its unique aesthetic and cultural significance.
When incorporated into watch dials, Unryu Washi paper introduces remarkable texture and depth, offering a distinct, organic visual appeal. The flowing fibers create a sense of movement, evoking an artisanal, handcrafted quality. While delicate in appearance, the paper undergoes specialized treatment to enhance durability and resilience, ensuring it withstands environmental conditions.
This fusion of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modern watchmaking results in a dial that is both elegant and artistic - a true reflection of nature's harmony and precision engineering.
